Beautiful script, done by hand or by offset printing, sets the stage for a charming wedding day.

Claire Reyes calligraphed names on The Wedding Co.'s DIY Love Doves for the 2008 Wedding Show
Darcy Miller, Editorial Director of Martha Stewart Weddings magazine, is an expert in, among other things, incorporating calligraphic elements into her events. Her wedding invitations were handwritten by Bernard Maisner, who also designed a monogram for the couple and calligraphed the date of their wedding. These special details were used on everything from favours to cocktail napkins to cookies. Darcy’s guests were delighted with their invitations. Bernard’s work she said, was considered by many a wonderful gift, and it set the perfect tone for her wedding day.
Don’t assume you are required to go all out with calligraphy, using it for invitations is sometimes difficult to time and can be cost prohibitive. Calligraphic elements such as a monogram or particular phrase can used throughout a wedding; printed on chair-backs, plate chargers, napkins and reproduced on walls, gobos and desserts. A menu written by a calligrapher and made into a rubber stamp will evoke an intimate, handmade quality. The bits and pieces designed to last beyond the wedding night will be a source of enjoyment for you and your guests for years to come.
Each of the following calligraphers are highly recommended, each approaches their work from a unique stylistic angle - we suggest explore your options before buying stationery if you are serious about having any calligraphy done.
