A Crane Is Coming To You

Stephanie Gareri is The Wedding Co.’s project coordinator for The Chandelier of Cranes and is scouring the globe for newly engaged couples to participate by signing their names, wedding date and location to an origami crane.

Our crane obsession continues as Catherine and I assembled the first batch of Crane Kits that will be sent out to suppliers from The List. Once again, we were amazed at the collective impact the group of cranes made as we prepared the kits.

Crane Kits

Each kit contains Crane Chandelier Project description/instruction cards; a return envelope; and 1 to 20 pre-made origami peace cranes.

Here’s how YOU (industry professionals) help contribute to the chandelier project:

Remove the cranes from the package and place in a vase or on a dish. Display the description cards by the cranes. **DIY Tipif you really want to make an impact, watch our Crane Card Holder Video to learn this unique and creative way to display the cards.**

When an engaged couple comes in for a consultation, tour, meeting, tasting, etc. ask the couple to participate by signing their names, wedding date and city anywhere on the crane. Collect the crane from the couple.

Spread the word – give them a card so they can visit The Wedding Co. to watch the chandelier take flight.

Once all your cranes have been signed – mail them back to The Wedding Co. in the return envelope supplied.

They never fail to make an impact when grouped together!

Engaged Couples

Remember to mail us your signed crane or request a pre-made crane kit! OR get creative and watch the DIY video, fold a crane, sign it and send it to us. Trust me when I preach that once you fold one crane you will be hooked!

Taking flight - Catherine will be taking some crane kits with her when she travels to New York City on Thursday. Stay tuned for an updated crane count and to read about the NYC reaction to the Crane Chandelier Project.

Metropolitan United Church

A grand old church in the heart of downtown Toronto and one of the three gorgeous cathedrals that gave Church Street its name, the MET has a wonderful combination of rich history and modern perspective.

Viewing and contact: Weddings can be held any day of the week but must be arranged after 2pm on Sundays. The church is always open from noon to three on weekdays for a quick peek but arrangements to view it for weddings can be made with weddings coordinator, Rachel van Geest (416) 363 0331

Location:  56 Queen Street East (Directions)

Community: Having voted to be recognized as affirming, the church welcomes everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, to be married and to minister at the church.

Confetti & Decorating: No confetti but it’s okay to have flower petals inside the church. Decorating is permitted so long as you don’t thumbtack or glue items onto pews – apparently it’s happened before.

The MET is a beautiful example of ?? architecture.

Capacity: 800

We’re steeple chasing, but not in the horse and rider sense! Instead, we’re compiling a list of chapels, churches and other  spots in which to hold a wedding ceremony and make a beautiful leap of faith. Expect weekly installments and don’t hesitate to recommend or request spots of interest.

Success is all about planning

How true that like any long term goal, a wedding day included, success is more likely when important decisions been made and a plan has been put into place!

Every week for 12 weeks, The Daily News is featuring a fit tip to encourage healthy living.  Tip No. 4 is from Leah Epstein, president of Equilibrium Lifestyle Management, and The Wedding Co.’s fitness and health special guest writer.

Keep in mind that in order to get results you must plan your workout. Any fitness program is goal-oriented, so choose the right one that suits your individual needs and you’ll be on the fast track to losing weight, looking great – and above all, having fun!

Up Next Week: The carbohydrate myth: not all are created equally.
