30-Day Bride- Dance Lesson #1

June 10, 2010  |  No Comments

The 30-Day Bride is Karina Lemke, a Toronto-based florist, wedding planner and TV host who decided on May 13 to tie the knot on July 1. For 30 consecutive days we’re tracking Karina and her fiancé, Mark Breslin (of Yuk Yuk’s fame), as they reveal their trials and tribulations. We’ll have all the juicy details leading up to, and including, their big day.

Karina and Mark attended their first dance class and, oh, what a night! Mark had a vision of waltzing around the room with his bride-to-be, but they soon learned that what they had in mind was actually a foxtrot and not a waltz (they’re both ballroom dances, to be sure, but each has its own moves and timing). Hey, lesson learned!

Karina and Mark lesson #1

After an hour, Karina and Mark were still working on their box step — a basic dance step named after the pattern it creates on the floor. They were certainly having fun but, as Karina points out, “Our instructor Christina was too kind to say that that was all we’d ever manage in the given amount of time!”

But they’re persevering. Lesson No. 2 is coming up soon, and we’ll be sure to fill you in on their progress. Though, really, is it ever about the actual dance moves? Personally, we can’t get over the cuteness of trying something new with the one you love.
