Travelling 9670 Miles To Marry
April 1, 2011 | 1 Comment
Here at the The Wedding Co., April means The Spring Wedding Show, which we’re excited to be hosting again this year at the ultra-cool Drake Hotel. That said, it only seems fitting to feature a real wedding that took place last October at Toronto’s hotbed of culture.
Caryn Van Proctor and Kimberley McKenna are from Melbourne, Australia, where it’s illegal for same-sex couples to get married. Caryn and Kim had been planning to come to Toronto to visit relatives but soon decided it would be the ideal place not just to vacation, but in which to get married, too.
And so the women jumped online to plan their celebration from 9670 miles away! They quickly discovered Heather MacEachern of HRM Photography, who they hired as their wedding photographer. Heather recommended they stay at the Drake and, after a bit of research, Caryn and Kim decided to host their entire event at the hotel, surrounded by extended family and friends. Unfortunately, their immediate family couldn’t make the trip. Fortunately, there are places in this world in which they are able to legally marry.

Lovely! (hah George Stroumboulopoulos.)
I love the saturation in these photos which is not entirely “in” this season. It’s great to see something different.
Very unique wedding. Great photos.
