Two Wedding Ceremonies And A Reception

Following a week of travelling through India with 100 guests and a day of ceremonial rituals to prepare for their marriage, it was finally time for Sapna and Ethan get married on March 25.

The couple planned two ceremonies, beginning with a Christian one. Both Sapna and Ethan wore traditional North America attire — Sapna in her white wedding dress and Ethan in a suit. Ethan’s mother is a minister and was able to perform the ceremony overlooking the Kashmir valley at Sapna’s uncles’ gorgeous resort, Manu Allaya, in Manali.

Following the Christian ceremony (and a Yak ride), the couple changed into their Hindu ceremony attire and so began the Barat tradition in which the groom’s friends and family accompany him on his journey to the wedding venue (the groom arrives on a horse!).

Once the Hindu ceremony was over, it was time for the reception. So the couple changed back into their original wedding attire (confusing, I know). Finally, following seven days of fun and tradition, the real party took place — and event not to be forgotten.

Thank you to photographer Catherine Farquharson for taking us on this amazing journey.
