Here’s their story:
We wanted to bring together family and friends in a way that would be personal, relaxed, fun and memorable. Ceilidh Farm, David’s family farm in Thornbury, was perfect: it’s a special place to us, and we relished the opportunity to share it with family and friends.
The wedding was a labour of love as we were planning it from our Manhattan apartment. Two weeks prior, close family and friends arrived to paint, garden, hang, tie and sweep. David’s mother gathered old horseshoes and we painted them for each place setting. Others made burlap table runners and chopped logs to make the chuppah. Photographs were strung up on clotheslines, and we used Mason jars of fresh flowers from the garden as centerpieces.
There wasn’t a cloud in the sky on our wedding day. The processional music was written and played by Whitney’s uncle and brother. During cocktails, guests reclined on burlap-covered bales of hay, or played bocce and horseshoes on the lawn. A carved leg of beef was served family-style, followed by local pies and butter tarts. When the Beauties took the stage, the barn floors were shaking and everyone was dancing. Story by: Trish Snyder
