A Wedding At The Gladstone Hotel
…”Aaron and I met while we were both teaching English in South Korea. After dating for only a few months, we decided to take a leap and go backpacking together through Russia and Europe. Eventually we moved in together and 4 years and many adventures later, Aaron proposed in front of the skyline of our current town of Toronto, Ontario.
After a bit of deliberation on the location of the event, we decided to have an urban wedding right here in the city. As we had friends and family coming from all over the U.S., Canada, and Europe, we thought it would be best to hold the event here. The Gladstone Hotel was the perfect venue for both our ceremony and reception. Its role as a cultural landmark combined with its art gallery space blended perfectly with our personalities. We loved how it combined old and new stylistic and cultural elements. As our wedding was fairly intimate, we were able to use the ballroom for both the ceremony and reception.
It’s so hard to choose my favourite moment of the day because it was all amazing. I would have to say the most memorable is when it was time to walk down the aisle and I saw my fiancé and all the wonderful people in my life there supporting us. Everyone looked so happy!
If I were to give advice to current/future brides to be, I would say not to stress too much over small details and make sure you’re keeping the planning part fun! Definitely enlist the help of others- we didn’t want a long engagement, which meant getting everything organized in 10 months….this was more of a challenge than we’d thought! Above all else, know what it is that you truly want from your wedding and own it.”
