The Wedding Co. Spring Show Highlights

Last Saturday, with the Drake Hotel, we hosted our 4th annual The Wedding Co. Spring Show.

From 10am-4pm, we welcomed newly engaged couples and the industry to meet 40 exceptionally talented and innovative wedding suppliers who showcased their designs and services.

The show had everything, from the electric bus to sweet snow cones, with planners giving away DIY garlands and fashion forward accessories – the brides swooned. There were emerald cakes, laser-cut place cards, and videos making mothers tear up.

Thank-you to everyone who attended, to the wonderful group of exhibitors, to TWC staff, and of course, to our loyal sponsors, the Drake Hotel and Event Rental Group.

The Perfect Pocket Square

Here is a little something for the boys. I have seen many a groom struggle trying to fold the perfect pocket square until his dad or grandfather steps in. Here is a little video by The Art Of Manliness, a fun website for men looking for a little help when it comes to all things manly.

Martini Bars Are So Passé

When it comes to bridal showers, most of us have experienced the obvious. Martini bar? Check. Karaoke? Been there, done that. Pole-dancing lessons? So five years ago.

So here’s a fresh idea we’re thrilled to share with you: a custom perfume bar.

Torontonians Kirsten Menkes and Ashlee Firsten are the founders of Aromachology, a perfume company that gives people the opportunity to create their own unique scent — one that’s a direct reflection of their personality.

Here’s how it work: Kristen and Ashlee show up your shower (or any event, for that matter) with a mobile perfume bar consisting of five base fragrances. Each guest completes a 10-question “scent profile” that’s used to determine her personality and resulting “base fragrance” (there are five in total, including sophisticated and sensual floral, bold and brisk woodsy, and exotic spicy oriental). Then, they select three of 15 enhancement scents (such as courageous, seductive, uplifting, inspiring and spontaneous) to complete their one-of-a-kind creation.

Once everyone has created her scent, the Aromachology women prepare each guest’s blend in either a bottle (100mL), travel spray (5mL) or a little keychain sampler. At a bridal shower, guests will often purchase a bottle for the bride and treat themselves to a smaller travel spray.

I asked Kirsten if people ever have trouble deciding what scents they like. Her immediate response? “The nose knows.”
