We Reached Our Goal Of 10,000!

I received an email from Eunmi and Nick who have just returned from their honeymoon that they would like to donate the remaining 770 canes we need to reach our goal of 10,000 for the Crane Chandelier Project. Thank-you Eunmi and Nick, we would be happy to take as many cranes you would like to donate- they ended up making 2500 for their wedding.

We have had a few other couples pledge cranes that they are making for their wedding, we would be honoured to receive them and include them in the project. We will also increase our donation to the Princesses Margaret Hospital Foundation to include the cranes that make their way to us in the next few weeks.

Only 770 Cranes To Go!

We are just 770 cranes away from our goal of 10,000 for The Weddings Co.’s Crane Chandelier Project. Our current total is 9,230, and next week we’ll begin work on the actual chandelier.

This ambitious project has brought together brides from all over the world, and now we’re looking forward to forming a different type of community: Toronto women who will meet in our offices each week, until late December, to string together thousands of beautiful cranes (it’ll be like a quilting bee of sorts).

I wasn’t anticipating these weekly gatherings when I first started the project, but when I realized what a huge undertaking this would be, I decided to ask for help. And who better to assist than a powerful group of women?

Follow along as the crane chandelier begins to take shape. It will be unveiled at The Carlu in January during The Wedding Show. We can’t wait!

More Cranes for The Crane Chandelier Project

We just received three cranes from Sarah and Dennis who are getting married in Ottawa on February 19th, 2011, and one from Linda and Carl from Phoenix, Arizona getting married October 9th, 2010. The Wedding Co. will donate ¢50 for each crane sent to The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

We now offically have 5852 cranes here at the office and we have aproximately 2500 pledged to us by couples folding 1001 cranes for their wedding. This brings us to a total of 8352!

See below for more details.

The goal is to collect 10,000 of these peaceful tokens of love by January 2011 when The Wedding Co. will celebrate its 10th anniversary. The final creation will be a visual representation of a worldwide community of engaged and newly married couples – a community that already shares so many invisible ties. Each crane will represent one couple’s leap of love, commitment and patience. The chandelier will be on display at The Wedding Show January 14-16, 2011.

For each crane we receive, we will donate ¢50 to The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

Request a pre-made crane for yourself or an engaged friend or DIY ! Just don’t forget to write your names, your wedding date and your location somewhere on the crane. Crane can be sent to:
