LUXE Destination Weddings & CECI New York

Now here is a paring that makes complete sense. LUXE Destination Weddings has created an exclusive partnership with high-end, Manhattan-based invitation company  CECI NEW YORK

Known for their talent and expertise in planning unique and exotic destination weddings, LUXE as made a bold move and opened the Ceci Invitation Lounge in their new office space in Toronto’s Liberty Village.

When planning a destination wedding there are only a few suppliers that you might use from your home base: planner, gown, suit, accessories, photographer, videographer and, of course, invitations. This partnership is a natural fit.

Tara and Matt Soloway, owners of LUXE, aren’t taking this new venture lightly. They’ve had their staff trained by Ceci Johnson, Ceci’s owner and designer, and have even had a line of invitations designed exclusively for their clients. Their staff can walk you through all your needs from the save-the-date to the menus and thank-you cards. Don’t despair, though, if you aren’t planning a destination wedding; the team at LUXE would be more than happy to help with your invitations.

Mad Hatter Tea Party in Disneyland

A few weeks ago Nancy da Costa and Mo Govindji of Mango Studio’s flew down to California to photograph the wedding of Irrum and Jeff at Disneyland.  The day before the wedding Irrum hosted a girls-only Mad Hatter Tea Party. Not only did the décor, food and setting bring the theme to life but also the main activity, each girl had to make a hat with the supplies that were at their place setting.

With construction paper, tissue, scissors and glue, the girls went to work creating one-of-a-kind crowns. Once they were completed, Nancy and Mo were given the important task of judging the hats which ended up in a tie. The tie breaker: a spoon and egg race on the grass heels and all.

My Golden Ticket

I received my golden ticket in the mail last week, an invitation to the Martha Stewart Weddings 15th anniversary party being held at the historic Plaza Hotel in New York City.

By Catherine Lash

The Wedding Co. had the great fortune to host Martha Stewart Weddings Editorial Director, Darcy Miller, as a speaker at The Wedding Show. Darcy has also contributed to the judging of our photo contest and met with the winners to review their portfolio. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with the Martha Stewart Weddings team on a Toronto wedding and hope bring Darcy back to speak again sometime soon.

I will be heading to New York next Monday to see the collections of our very talented Canadian designers, Rivini, Ines Di Santo and Adele Wechsler during the wedding industry’s semi-annul ‘market’ as well as to attend the party with my friend, Elana Dweck, from one of The Wedding Co.’s favourite Brooklyn-based companies, Melangerie. Rumour has it Amy Atlas is creating the sweet table for the party, yum.

Visit our events page between November 10 and December 11, 2009 for your chance to win one of ten golden tickets to The Wedding Show … curious about this exclusive VIP experience? You should be! Details are coming soon!
