Elizabeth & Jay Wed at Hart House

An elegant affair captured by Caitlin Free.

Elizabeth & Jay’s wedding was so wonderful on various different levels. Elizabeth is that kind of bride who had every little detail planned out, but was one of the most easy going brides ever. There were gold sprinkled details all throughout her elegant winter wedding at the Hart House. They wanted to stay as far away from a banquet hall wedding as possible. The history, unique architecture, high ceilings, fireplaces.. it was all exactly what they were looking for in a venue.

There were so many personal touches to their wedding day. The mother of the bride made their amazing wedding cake, the furs were passed down through Elizabeth’s family, and her mother found her cute purse at an antique store. My favourite little detail – Jay’s wedding band was handcrafted from gold taken from both families at The Devil’s Workshop.

From the bride:

How did you guys meet?
Jay and I met at McMaster University in 2009. I was in my 4th year. He had already finished his degree but was returning during the CFL offseason to upgrade a few marks to apply for his MBA. We met during “frost week” at a bar. Took him a month to convince me to go on a date with him!

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
Most memorable part of the wedding day… I think I have two. Walking down the aisle and seeing him tear up (though he denies it but we have picture proof!) and our first dance which we had choreographed. Jay had bought us dance lessons as a surprise Christmas gift, we had just two months prior to the big day to practice!
