Contribute to a global DIY art project and send us a crane!

The Wedding Co. is building a chandelier from origami cranes signed by brides and grooms from around the globe. It’s our goal to collect 10,000 of these peaceful tokens of love: the project will culminate at The Wedding Co.’s 10th anniversary in January 2011.

For each crane we receive, we’ll donate 50¢ to cancer research.

As an engaged bride or groom, this is your opportunity to contribute to a community and an art installation piece. Not engaged? Then participate by spreading the word!

June 2009 The Crane Chandelier is at The Brooklyn Pop-Up Wedding Series & The Martha Stewart Weddings’ Chapel for the entire month. Read about the event here .

To date, we’ve sent over 700 cranes to couples to be signed and received approximately 500 since January.

Follow our progress on Twitter and at The Daily News .

Request a crane or send your own to:

We ask that all cranes that are signed by engaged couples include names, a general location and a wedding date.

Words about the Birds
“I Do” at the Zoo…had completely forgotten that I had ordered a crane until a small envelope addressed to moi arrived from Canada. Rick was very inquisitive as to whom we knew in Canada!

Tracey Loves Pattern…I was unsure whether I would hear anything as the project is based in Canada, but the project really is worldwide.
