Road Trip To Paris
My husband (then fiance) inspired the name of my wedding planning business, Bisous Events (bisous meaning kisses in French) and the fact that he was born in a suburb outside of Paris, France where most of his family still resides… the city always had a lot of meaning to both of us. This is why when it came time to choose a place to take our engagement photos, without much research into the town, we just had to visit Paris, Ontario!
We really wanted the photos to reflect how we are so we wanted to keep it more casual, fun and candid. Ally Ho of Evolylla Photography came with us on our little adventure. Puzzle Creations did my hair with soft curls pulled behind my ear on one side to show my blue highlights and The Look Bridal gave me a bold mauve lip to make the vintage-looking shoot a little more edge.
On the way, we needed to make a pit stop and the only place we found was this retro diner which was so perfect for some fun photos… and of course, a milkshake and hot dog to share. Joseph is a huge movie buff so it reminded him a lot of all the childhood movies he watched in France imaginging what North America was like.
We then headed off to the adorable town of Paris. Coyote Flowers provided a stunning muted yellow and white bouquet to compliment our ivory and dusty blue outfits. We took our time just wandering the quant streets, overlooking the flooded stream from this rainy spring and the beautiful buildings with their terraces built right over the stream. We strolled through the park and then took a break at one of the local coffee shops to warm up. They had one of those back patios that overlooked the stream so we bundled up and enjoyed the scenery and glow of the sunset.
As the sun was setting and it got chilly, I made a quick dress change and we decided to wander through a nearby nature reserve. We just wandered with no real plan and stopped here and there for some quick snaps. It was perfect since Ally loves candids and experimenting with the light. Joseph and I had such a great time just exploring as we went along as that’s how we are! Thank you to everyone apart of this special day leading up to our wedding!”
Tips when planning for your engagement shoot:
-check the weather and make sure to have a couple outfit options incase the weather isn’t fitting
-have your outfits compliment each other but not too matchy
-choose an area that isn’t too crowded not to impede on the photographer and so you don’t feel like everyone is watching if you’re shy like us
-go with the flow!
