Cranes at the Pop-Up Weddings

The Crane Chandelier Project, it would seem, has become popular with the couples at the Brooklyn Pop-Up Wedding Series!

Tonight, a couple was married who loved them so much, they used them as their cake toppers and yesterday, Leah and Michael, who won their wedding at the Martha Stewart Weddings’ Pop-Up Chapel, were photographed signing their crane (which we hope is making its way to Toronto in the next week or so!) Michael also took the time in his speech at their reception to mention the project.

Wow!

Ruth Heronemus runs Street Attack in New York, the marketing company that bought the gallery space at 303 Grand and turned it into a revolving storefront, put the entire pop-up wedding series/shop/chapel together at the space and has been at every pop-up wedding at the chapel. Not only did she email me when Michael mentioned our project, but she also wrote that it started a ripple effect and every engaged couple in the room was keen to sign their own!

A life of its own

The Crane Chandelier project has taken on a life of its own. We have received a number of inspiring and wonderful stories relating to the project and this morning I thought I would share an email we received last week:

….i applaud this wonderfully creative and compassionate idea…..in the 1950′s,  while in summer camp,  each year we sent thousands of ‘peace cranes’ to japan (i don’t know exactly where)….later on,  as a teacher,  i made sure that each year,  peace cranes were made by my elementary school children,  here in brooklyn,  n.y.) after reading the SADAKO book with my classes….and now,  having a daughter (she’s now 26) who was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma in 2006 (not yet in remission) who will,  hopefully,  one day get married,  i am touched by this idea and will share it with her….

i sincerely thank you,

anita

The Wedding Co. will be sending Anita and her daughter a crane to sign, it will be a wonderful symbol of hope and we would be honoured to have it included in the project.
