Unbeknownst to James Braithwaite and Emily Birnbaum there was a tornado just half an hour away from where they hosted their August wedding.
High winds and rain were definitely part of the day hence the amazing colours and misty feeling to some of the photos by photographer Danijela Pruginic. That being said it didn’t stop them from having an amazing day, fireworks and all.
If you have a moment take a look at James’s website, The Bathwater , is an amazing artist and was one of the illustrators for the Oscar nominated film I Met The Walrus.

I LOVE small weddings. When I saw this wedding photographed by Danijela Pruginic I wanted you to see not only how lovely a small wedding can be but how beautifully Danijela captured the intimacy of the day.
Danijela has a delicate touch and a minimalist approach. Her ability to compose beautiful soft images based on composition, colour and the moment are ideal for this type of wedding.
Here is Jill and Brian’s story as told by the photographer.
Jill and Brian were married August 13, 2011 on a beautiful summer day in Niagara. They chose to share their special day with immediate family in enjoying local wines from the region in this glorious setting.
The ceremony took place in the public garden at The Inn On The Twenty surrounded by family members while they said their vows. Dinner was held at the same venue in a private dining room the couple decorated with Scandinavian designed items the have collected during their travels.
A rich seven layer red velvet cake was placed in a large bell jar to display while everyone enjoyed a delicious 5 course meal with wine pairings to celebrate a wonderful day.
For the next three days, with the help of photographer Danijela Pruginic of Danijela Weddings, I’m going to focus on Juli Daoust and John Baker: a couple whose love of Scandinavia, combined with their Toronto-based retail business, served as the inspiration for their engagement shoot (and entire wedding, for that matter).
Both Juli and John appreciate Scandinavian culture, food and design — not to mention the region’s cool temperatures— and so it was only natural that they had their engagement photos taken on a cold, crisp winter day in High Park and in and around local coffee shops.
“You don’t need sunshine and warm weather for a great engagement shoot,” says Danijela. “Cuddling in the snow is just as romantic.”
Juli and John hosted their wedding celebration at their stunning lifestyle store, Mjök (Milk), located in Toronto’s Junction neighbourhood. Join us tomorrow for a peek into their beautiful wedding.
