A Crisp, Cold Day

Every photographer has his or her own look and technique; the difficult part, when selecting a wedding photographer, is fining a style that suits you as a couple. Sometimes this is easy and a couple is instantly drawn to a certain photographer’s portfolio. Others will agonize over the decision for weeks.

We have showcased many different looks on The Wedding Co. blog, from dreamy backlit images to entire weddings shot in black and white. Today, I am featuring a style that some couples will appreciate instantly.

Photographer David Buck of David Buck Photography sent in these engagement photos that he shot in Cobble Beach, north of Toronto. His work is as crisp as the day was cold. David has complete control over the camera and this knowledge gives him the ability to create images like these that reflect the elements and look the couple was hoping for.

A Proposal Caught On Camera

This week we are taking a look back at some of our favourite features of 2010, enjoy!

We’re suckers for a good proposal story, and we can’t enough of Andy, who wins big points in our books for capturing his on camera. Andy convinced his now-fiancée, Emilee, to go on a hike with him at Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura, CA. He had cleverly prearranged to have a his father set up a table with books and a reading lamp on the trail so that they would just happen to stumble upon during their hike. Sure enough, they did just that, and a curious Emilee began reading the books, only to discover that each one had a photograph in it. When she picked up the final book, which had a paper ring with a question mark on it, Andy got down on one knee and proposed. The rest, as they say, is history.

Sweet, no?

But the best part is that Andy had also prearranged to have photographers Troy and Amiee Grover (of Troy Grover Photographers) hide in the bushes so that his unique proposal could play out in from of their cameras. Awesome planning, Andy!

I Heart You!

This week we are taking a look back at some of our favourite features of 2010.

Amanda and Brian were looking for a vintage feeling to their engagement photos so Joseph and Jamie of Joseph + Jamie Weddings, suggested they start at a record store along Queen Street East.

I couldn’t resist a little throw back to the 70′s, here is Barracuda by Heart.
