Day 6 for the 30-Day Bride

May 8, 2009

The 30-Day Bride is Cachelle Odette Fry, a Toronto wedding planner who decided May 1st to tie the knot on May 30th. We’re tracking her daily decisions and will have all the details right up to, and including, the big day.

cachelle2Probably one of the most time consuming parts of wedding day planning is the dress. Fry, ahead of the game being already versed in local designers, approached Tina Cho (Partina Atelier) with some very specific ideas of what she thought she wanted.

Once at the atelier though, a dress on Cho’s rack caught her eye and became the basis for a new set of ideas. The rough idea became a reality by the end of yesterday when Cho sent over a sketch of the proposed dress, a modified mermaid in dupioni silk.

Having to make such important details so quickly, Fry is working alone, using only her industry knowledge and her gut reactions as guides, and finds the process to be incredibly refreshing. “In a way, it’s a relief,” she says, referring to not getting caught up in the minute details. “I can let go of those stresses this way – it could rain and I wouldn’t care.”
