Almost two weeks ago, the 30-Day Bride walked down the aisle. One of her close friends said after the wedding that it was the most loving wedding she’d ever been to: “Everyone was just so excited for them, I’ve never been to a wedding where every single guest was that excited. They both have this great energy and together it’s just amazing.”
When The Wedding Co. spoke with Cachelle before the day she said, “I am going to be so much better at my job when this is over, I always put so much pressure on myself for my clients. I say, “if it rains, I will make it perfect regardless.” Now I know that my [outdoor ceremony] may have to be moved inside and I understand that a Plan B may not be ideal, but it will be fine. I can say to my couples now, “make a plan B and be prepared to go to it and everything will be fine.”
Cachelle and Allan were married inside the chapel at Graydon Hall, rather than in the garden.
But the weather held for some gorgeous outdoor portraits.
 The elusive red shoes.
When Cachelle's designer, Fiona Liston, told her the plan for the decor, she completely re-designed her invitations, menu cards, table cards and name cards to suit the romantic French theme.

 A pouf by Sara Gabriel
Veil, fascinator, hat, comb or band … what’s a bride to choose when it comes to topping off her dream dress with the perfect accent piece?
As hats and other headgear slowly become de rigueur at North American social events (we’ve finally started to catch up with the Brits and Kentucky Derby goers’ fun), the options for that final, cherry-on-’top’ accessory have diversified and allowed brides to look beyond the traditional veil. Doubling up on pieces can also create a gorgeous effect.
In homage to our sugar-themed week, these pieces remind us of sweet piles of cotton candy and sugar crystals. Though they’re sweet, these pieces are also sophisticated, sexy and full of personality. The most wonderful thing about head pieces is that they can be changed or altered to update a bride’s look between the ceremony and the reception – why change out of that spectacular dress when you can express yourself with two separate looks by changing a single element? To change up her look for evening, The 30-Day Bride changed her white fascinator for a red one after the ceremony and tossed her chapel length veil along the way.

This week, The Daily News is all about what’s sweet: sugar, honey, candy, chocolate and everything that reminds us of the sweeter side of life. Stay tuned for great favour ideas, beautiful head pieces that use crystal for just the right hit of sparkle, a chocolate factory tour, and of course, the most modern ways to sweeten up your guests after dinner.
First off, a few behind the scene snaps I took during the set up for The 30-Day Bride’s wedding.
Fiona and Joanne (Stemz) breeze in behind the pale pink and claret red cake that perfectly matched their French-inspired theme
Fiona drying flowers before putting them on tables
Setting up the bar inside Graydon Hall
Lilac trees for the ceremony site were put out of the way inside before the decision was made about where the ceremony would be held - rain threatened all day but Cachelle really wanted to be married outside.
Jackson Huang shot Fiona and her team during the set up - she was moving at the speed of light!
 The bouquets and boutonniers
A pile of vibrant paper lanterns waiting to be suspended from the tent ceiling
Setting up the chapel for the indoor ceremony
The inside of Graydon was going to be used for cocktails and dancing - the red feather boas, red candles and gorgeous red candle holders and red rose petal were all used to make this space a sexy explosion of colour and a contrast to the sweet, soft feel of the pinks outside.

Cachelle Fry has probably just arrived at a family BBQ, it’s the night before her wedding and today she spent running around picking up and dropping off, putting the polish the last of the details that will make tomorrow that much more special.
Many of her large family have flown in from Nova Scotia and as Rod McMahon from Maximum Music, the company she hired to deejay the dancing, says, they’re looking to have a great party. Looking ahead to after the four-course meal Fry has planned at Graydon Hall, we have it on good authority that there will be a few of Bon Jovi’s hits as well as Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” which is a personal favourite of Cachelle’s. The first dance is top secret at this point.
Later tonight Fry will be heading to a lovely hotel from which she’ll travel to the wedding tomorrow. We’ll be back later with our guess of what she’ll dream of… remember those shoes she thought she’d never find?

“It’s been a fun ride, ” Cachelle Fry said from what sounded like the inside of her car yesterday afternoon – I didn’t ask but hoped she was talking hands free. There hasn’t been much time lately for Fry to sit down and chat. When we asked how long it had been since she actually saw her fiancé, Allan Colquhoun, she had to think for a moment. “We actually spent a few hours together yesterday, talking about the wedding, I really needed him to make some decisions with me about seating and music for the ceremony… he’s so much better at that stuff … our only distraction was that we kept getting excited and saying, ‘we’re getting married!’ and then getting back to work.” Allan also emailed her a few days ago about going away after the wedding – it’s something that hasn’t been decided either way.
The past week especially has been busy with all the last minute details, in order to get some sleep this is the first time in her life Cachelle has turned her mobile phone off over night. “I’m not actually seeking people out to inform them about decisions I’ve made or changes at this point … whatever hasn’t been taken care of I’ve forgotten about and I’d rather not add anything to my list,” Cachelle says.
Yesterday, Cachelle’s wedding ring came in the mail from Blue Nile, she borrowed Love the Card’s scorer to score her placecards, and she was en route to ensure the fondent for her cake was the right colour. She was also hoping to get herself a mani-pedi at some point, but that might not happen until today. She’s also as prepared as possible for the weather, having arranged for heating lamps for under the tent.
Stay tuned for more details throughout today as the clock ticks down – including the music details which I know were promised a few days back! Tomorrow, The Wedding Co. is onsite for some of the set up and I will definitely try to post some sneak peek pics in the afternoon!

Shauna of City Girl Cakes flew in last night to get started on Cachelle Fry’s wedding cake, rumour has it, there may actually be more than one. Turns out, the 30-Day Bride has yet another connection in the wedding industry, this one’s a cousin who is a cake designer in Halifax. She flew into Toronto yesterday to get to work creating a dream wedding cake in Cachelle’s mother’s kitchen. “I just hope she has enough room,” laughed the bride over the phone last week.
“Everyone has been saying just give me your ultimate dream version of your (fill in the blank with wedding item: cake, dress, invitation…)” says the lucky Cachelle who seems to have more friends in the industry that outside it, “we’ll work back from there,” she says, quoting her friends, “but we never do… I just keep asking for exactly what I want and pretty much getting it.”
This seems an apt time to address the importance of Fry’s connections in the industry for her to pull this wedding that promises to be spectacular off in less than a month. The nice thing is, she’s the first to point that out. Almost every conversation she’s had with us over the course of the past few weeks, she’s expressed how lucky she is and how her friends have rallied around her. Not too many people are in the same position and the success of this event will be a testament to Fry’s connections as much as her professional ability. In other words, don’t try this at home kids.

Four days away and our 30-Day Bride, Cachelle Odette Fry, still doesn’t have her shoes, “which is a bit sad for me as I am a
shoe gal,” she wrote to The Wedding Co. yesterday afternoon. Her dress has been fitted and she’s fallen madly in love with it, her veil and her custom hair piece but, as she continued, “my bridal shower was proof, all my ladies collected money so I could get incredible shoes,” there is still a large piece of the puzzle missing.
Despite the not yet finding her perfect glass slipper, things are coming together nicely. Fry has ordered her linen, finalized her guest count and made her meal selections. Her hair and makeup will be provided by Faces by Carla – now she just has to find a place to get ready and pick some music. In the meantime, she spent a day with her current clients, so she’ll be able to take a relaxing day or two off after the wedding.
Tomorrow, we’ll be talking music and wedding cake!

Despite yesterday’s promise that Cachelle Fry is allowing herself free rein to pull her 30-Day Wedding together without becoming her own details-oriented wedding planner, she wrote in an email: “With most of our vendors and suppliers picked, I am now trying to jump into the logistics of the day. When will we be taking photos? Who will be involved? How will we get our adorable, 8-month-old niece/flower girl down the isle? How long will we be sitting at dinner? How will we transition from dinner to dancing?” The wedding coordinator in Fry has begun to appear as the days tick down, but not to the point of taking the fun out of the process. While she’s getting on with the specifics, she’s clearly torn between efficiency and her desire to pack everything in.
As a wedding planner, she’s watched a long receiving line before and said to herself, ‘that will never happen again, what a huge amount of time that takes’ but now, as a bride, she’s realized that personally thanking and making the point of greeting each person is very important. “What Allan and I are really concerned about is how we will have the time or chance to thank/or talk to everyone on the wedding day. We want everyone to know how excited, thankful and overwhelmed we are with everyone’s willingness to share in our celebrations,” she wrote in her daily correspondence with The Wedding Co.

The 30-Day Bride is Cachelle Odette Fry, a Toronto wedding planner who decided May 1st to tie the knot on May 30th. We’re tracking her daily decisions and will have all the details right up to, and including, the big day.
At about a week and a half out, Cachelle Fry is working in finding herself some wicked shoes and her mother a gorgeous dress: in an email to The Wedding Co. she wrote: “I need my shoes before my dress fitting so we will hopefully be doing that end of day tomorrow (Day 20) or Thursday (Day 21) at the latest.” Anyone who’s worn a dress with different pairs of shoes knows a different heel can really impact the fit and look of it, when it comes to a long dress, having it cut to the exact right length is crucial.
” A funny blip,” Fry also wrote. “The invitations went out before we had our meetings with Chef.” Chef is Arpi Magyar at Graydon Hall. Fry’s invitation included little images to demonstrate the choices guests had for the main course – and one was a cow. When she sat down with Magyar after the invites had gone out, Fry chose lamb rather than beef as an option … “our poor little cow should really be a lamb … kind of a funny mistake!” Now, when guests RSVP, and select beef, she’s just asking if lamb works for them instead.
As Fry gets close to the big day, she’s maintaining an incredibly calm exterior. As she’s said all along, for her, getting caught up in the minute details of the wedding will bog her down and dampen her run to the finish line. The odd ‘blip’ may pop up here and there but, so far, she’s kept her professional perfectionist self from taking over her fun as a bride-to-be.
