Two Canadian designers have taken our unpredictable weather to heart for their stylish cliental. Tina Cho and Brian Bailey have both designed the perfect warming complement to their signature dresses. When it comes to covering up their creations and their cliental, both agree that any extra layer ought to offer a colour contrast, but that’s where their similarities end.

Before the snow flies, Bailey’s elegant trench coat is spectacular when layered atop his ‘svelte beyond comparison’ gowns. Driven to create graceful shapes to suit his long, lean aesthetic and flatter without compromising, Bailey has made a career out of dressing women for work, play and the social occasions in between. His experience with both formal and outerwear is evident in this high collared coat for the modern bride.

At the darling Partina Atelier, Cho’s current inspiration board is covered in magazine pages, silk swatches of petal pinks and champagnes, and snippets of gold-embroidered ribbon. The ultra-feminine theme is carried through her gowns with touches of pleated ribbon at necklines and hems, oversized ‘couture’ bows and ruffles Marie Antoinette would covet. A charming vintage find has become the working model for a cropped cloak-inspired jacket. The design features invisible pockets on the inside of two front panels that allow the wearer to wrap herself up in a warm, furry hug without detracting from her glamourous ensemble. Cho’s version will of made of cozy faux fur for a dreamy portrait in the snow.
The best part about these two gorgeous outer layers? They’ve been created to accentuate a wedding gown, but their undeniable style makes them wearable beyond the wedding day too.
