Q & A With Toronto Pastry Chef Manal Bashir

What inspired you to start your business?

My passion for the arts met my passion for desserts and inspired me to turn it into something bigger.

What do you love about weddings?

My favourite part of a wedding is the ceremony. I almost always tear up during wedding ceremonies because it I love the celebration of love and the uniqueness that every love story has.

What sets you apart from everyone else?

I've always found myself to be obsessed with the little things. It's more than being a perfectionist or detail oriented, which I am and have to be, doing what I do. It is a way of looking at the world and the small details. I've drawn more inspiration from the mundane than the extraordinary and I find this to be what sets me apart.

How would you describe your style?

My style would be described as clean and composed. In a world of fads and trends, being adaptable but maintaining integrity in your work is what I find to be the most important. Having malleability has allowed me to maintain my style and still create without boundaries and limitations.

Do you have any upcoming events we can share?

I will be participating in 'Chef's for Change'- February 20th and 27th, 'Eat to the beat'- October 2019, and 'What's on the Table'- November 2019.
